I was such a HUGE fan of ‘Things You Save in a Fire’ so I knew I had to wipe the dust off of this one. Maggie, is left paralyzed with burns over her upper torso after a small plane crash (I’ll pass on prop plane’s) while the pilot, her fiancé, walked away with only a bandaid. Maggie must go on with her new “normal” and pick up the pieces that have been broken. What I love the most about Katherine Center’s books are the characters. Each character is well-developed while preserving and continuously growing. I felt like a knew each one of them and was rooting for all, except for Chip and his awful mother. Maggie never loses her courage, sense of humor, and hope. I aspire to have the strength of Maggie after going through such a sudden accident. If you want a book that tugs at all your heartstrings pick up a Katherine Center book!
