I don't like romances. My friends continually make fun of me because I am just not into them and don't enjoy what they lovingly refer to as "kissing books." But I had heard a lot of good things about this one, so I picked it up on audio. I myself lost my fiance when I was 26, and it was terrible - while she doesn't lose her fiance in the traditional sense, the main character here does "lose" hers, and I felt very connected with her - the raw grief she felt paralleled my own when I had to go it alone for the first time in years. The romance is predictable and unrealistic, but people don't read these for realism, they read them to feel good about themselves and the world around them, at least for a time. Mission accomplished!
