This book really hooks you in from the start. Margaret sets out on a night that should be one of the happiest experiences of her life, but it turns out to be a nightmare. You can’t help but feel Margaret’s pain both physical and emotional. There are so many interesting layers and relationship dynamics to this story.

Chip turned out to be a real piece of work. This whole story really starts out because of him, but the way he treats Margaret shows his true colors. Kit was a pleasant surprise. Showing up after three years was exactly what Margaret needed, even though Margaret didn’t want it. I loved how the whole family really reconnected, but not without some heartache.

And then there is Ian. Broody, grumpy and a jerk…little do we know he’s facing his own demons from the past. I loved that Ian and Margaret essentially hated each other. But as they break down each other’s walls, a beautiful story unfolds. Life may not always turn out as planned, but this story really shows you how to turn a devastating situation into the best thing that ever happened to you.
