While this is Katherine Center's first novel, I actually read this after her second novel, Things You Save in a Fire. I liked Things You Save so much that I decided to pick this one up also.

We are introduced to Margaret who has her life completely altered by an unfortunate accident, one that she was rather forced into by her then-boyfriend, Chip. Margaret is left to reassemble her life and figure out how to navigate it going forward. She feels completely ready to give up, abandoned, and alone. Enter scene: Ian, her surly Scottish physical therapist.
This is a romance novel in which we watch relationships crumble and blossom for Margaret as she fits into her new life.

I did enjoy this debut novel for Center, however, not as much as her second. The relationship between Ian and Margaret seems a little forced and the ending was far too cheesy, Hallmark movie-esque for me.
On the upside, Margaret's feelings as she adjusts to her new life seem very well written and "real". Also, there is a special place in hell for people like Chip.
