I don't read a lot of chick-lit, but when I do I realize that there is one thing about it I love: charm!
Yes, the books are predictable. You know going in that there will be a struggle and a broken heart in need of healing. You also know that the men will be big and strong and masculine and handsome, and the women will be petite and kind and pretty. But most of all you know that there will be a happy ending. And here is the deal -- this is exactly what makes these books successful. Sometimes we need to read a story that is sweet, and charming. We are looking for light and hopeful. Predictable is sometimes exactly what we want from a book.
Katherine Center's book was all of these things and I enjoyed it.
