This book was absolutely captivating and charming. Truth be told, I originally was expecting something a bit more morose and serious, and while this book does deal with a heavy topic, it truly becomes about how Margaret re-learns how to live and find joy and purpose after a tragedy upends everything she thought she knew and had planned for her life and future. Margaret is fortunate in that she has her ultra-supportive parents to help get her through the challenges she faces, and her long-estranged sister plays a major role as well. This book has so much heart without being too sweet, and Margaret does struggle with her emotions through the book, as she's faced with a lot of ups and downs in her progress and recovery.
(Also, I'm always a sucker for a gruff Scotsman (or Irishman, or Brit), so I was all in on the Ian storyline from the beginning.)
