This one isn't quite as good as Things You Save in a Fire, but almost. This one plays out much like a movie. Some parts are thought provoking, but I wished for a little bit more. Some parts are a little too easily wrapped up, but overall, I rooted for this one and for Maggie the whole way through.
As always, Center's writing creates fully developed characters. Even side characters have back stories and feel like real people. Although this novel does rely on some romantic cliches, especially at the end, the journey doesn't always twist and turn as expected. Did the cliches keep me from enjoying this one? NO! It's the journey that matters and this book provides an excellent one.
