From the first paragraphs, I felt sucked into HOW TO SUCCEED IN WITCHCRAFT. A school's promotional brochure that promotes "healthy competition"...
if that doesn't indicate that something interesting will be brewing in the pages of this book besides witches' potions, I'm not sure what would.

The first person POV of the high school aged main character definitely reads as a YA novel, however it has still caught my attention as an adult reader. I like the premise of the academic setting of the magic school. The cover of the book seems to fit well. Magic is a very heavy part of this book and I’m interested to see how things play out for Ana with her problems with Mr. B and how magic may help in resolving things for her. I'm also curious how the author will address the topic of racial discrimination which has been presented in this sample of the book.
