How to Heal a Gryphon by Meg Cannistra was such a funny, cozy read! If you are looking for a middle grade novel at the intersection of Luca, Percy Jackson, and fablehaven this perfectly hits that spot!

Giada has a fighting spirit and loves her family, even if her dreams are taking her away from the family craft. I loved the intersection of magical healing and modern medicine and all the magical creatures we meet along the way. The mythology in this book feels familiar with nods to roman gods and creatures, but also wonderfully unique.

The magic system was unique and well thought out, with a beautiful secret world that exists in the pocket of our own. I loved the way spunky Giada knew who she was and what she wanted and tackled challenges head on, even if that sometimes gets her in trouble with her community. Her friends and family may not totally understand her, but they love her and support her all the same.
