This was a really fun and cute middle grade book. The story flowed very well and was easy to get into. This is the kind of book I would have loved when I was younger, but even know I found it a lot of fun. The magical system was unique and intriguing, I kept wanting to know more.
I think Giada was a very interesting main character. I liked reading about her internal struggle of wanting to pursue healing and helping animals instead of humans as her family's traditional career was well done and I enjoyed how she had to show her family and best friend her passion for becoming a magical veterinarian. As an animal lover, I could really relate to Giada.
I loved the family dynamic throughout the book. Her family loved and supported her even though they wanted something different for her in life. That is a great family.
