From the start of this book I was intrigued as it was all about a historical fiction narrative from the 1960's. I loved that Hiranandani explored a biracial love story that dealt with Jewish and Indian families and how this can be difficult not only for those living it, but also for those who disagree with it. I also loved that she wrote about so many things that occurred during this time period; everything from the Vietnam War, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and the Loving case. I think that this book is a great book for anyone to read but especially our younger generation of readers and they are learning to navigate so many of the issues that Ariel experienced in this story. I would highly recommend this book to all of my high school students and even to my book club as I think it teaches so many different lessons that we all can learn from. Great read!
