Shades of Love
How to Find What You're Not Looking For quickly dives into the complications after interracial marriage, and makes it seem like a perfectly realistic scenario. At times it's hard to remember that this is a historical fiction story, and I probably wouldn't if there weren't references to things like the Vietnam War and the Beatles. The story is written in second tense, which drives me a little crazy, but might generate empathy in a middle-grade audience, it's primary audience.
