I can't remember ever reading a novel that presented such an intimate, honest, and compassionate perspective on mental illness, grief and adolescence. Biz is a young woman struggling to deal with the death of her father, the angst of being a teenager, and, as she puts it, her broken brain.

Anyone battling mental illness will relate to Biz. Anyone who has been a teenager will relate to Biz. Anyone who has loved and lost someone will relate to Biz.

I did find the book a bit too long, rambling in places. The plot lagged a bit in the middle, but picked up in the last quarter. Yet I am not the target YA audience, and I suspect younger readers won't have the same complaint. A definite read for any young person!
