While I don't think the book itself strongly tied in the title, about the concept of "floating," as much as the summary would lead you to believe, this was still a very engaging book about a young woman who is dealing with the loss of her father and her own mental health. In many ways it reminds me of the book Nick and June Were Here, but unlike that book, Ms. Fox focused on the person in the center of the crisis. This gave a bit more edge and urgency to the story. I love how, without the reader even realizing, Ms. Fox builds a support system around Biz. It is all these characters and their development that act as a background for Biz as she starts floating out of control. This is a very impressive first novel!
