I love LGBTQ books, and I haven’t read one featuring a gay Muslim character such as Amir until now. We learn right away that he knows his family won’t approve of who he is, and this leads to his adventure. I was pulled in right away from the very first chapter, and I was totally invested knowing that this wasn’t some YA love story but more about self-discovery and self-acceptance.

This is such an important YA book because I know there are queer Muslims with little representation in books, films, and TV.

I really enjoyed the style of the book, and the various interrogation scenes that dive into the aftermath of Amir running away to hide his sexuality from his parents. It was interesting to hear multiple perspectives on Amir.

Highly recommend!
