I know this is supposed to be one of the most anticipated books of the year, but I felt like that was too much of a build up.
Amir is 18 years old and he edits Wikipedia pages. I'm not sure how long he has been doing it, but he managed to save enough for a flight and a month in Italy.
I was expecting something different given how the book began. Amir's family is detained at an airport and as the book went on, we got snipits of what had happened. It all seemed very cliche and very poorly written and was really the only part of the book that dealt with Amir being Muslim. Other than that, it was really more of a sidebar through out the book.
Amir is gay but again, I felt like that was poorly written through out the book.
Honestly, the story fell flat to me and the characters were one dimensional.
