I’m not usually a fantasy lover, but everyone who had read this book already told me it was beginner fantasy friendly and they were not wrong. This book is set in a contemporary setting with witches and a unique magic system. We follow Quell as she discovers truths about herself she never knew to be possible and what it looks like to be the heir to a hierarchy that you had no idea you were even then rightful heir to. We follow Quell as she discovers the horrors her family has inflicted on others just like her for being “lessor” and we get to experience her thoughts on what’s next for not just her, but the coven she will ultimately inherit. In a twisty but exciting ending that leaves you with so many questions about what’s next we watch as Quell choosing a path that no one would have chosen for her, but ultimately will lead her to either great or terrible things
