This book is unique, disturbing, mysterious, haunting, and fairy-tale like.
I’m an avid reader of horror books, despite being quite fearful. This is unlike any horror book I’ve read before. I’m not even sure if other people would consider this a horror book. But the grotesque descriptions and suspenseful chase between a monster and teenage girls, screams “horror” to me.
The author managed to describe details to an extreme where you can almost smell the things she was describing (decay, earth, death, etc.). Those details immerses the reader into a terrifying story about a mysterious monster chasing after three sisters. These sisters aren’t normal sisters though. They had gone through a horrific event as children that they have no memory of. This horrific event haunts them throughout this book and keeps the reader guessing as to what really happened during that event. The book forces you to question who is the protagonist vs. the antagonist, and if monsters could at times…. Feel human.
I absolutely loved this book despite being grossed out and horrified. A one of a kind story that’ll keep you reading until the final page.
