House of Hollow Review
4/5 stars
House of Hollow presented an extremely unique and fascinating story including many many topics and incorporated mythology. I was engrossed reading the book and was left all over the place with emotion.
Story: I haven't read too much thriller/horror stuff, but this book made me want to. Following our main character, Iris, and her two older sisters, you are brought on a journey of the strange, horrific, and sinister. I was so interested throughout the book, the story took me all over the place, and I just held on.
Characters: I was super interested in Grey's (Iris's eldest sister) character, she was so mysterious, and I think Krystal Sutherland did an amazing job of portraying Grey. I thought Iris and Vivi (the middle sister) lacked depth. And Iris was pretty bland. Tyler was the absolute best, I was LIVING through this man (ironic lmao).
Writing: Krystal Sutherland wrote a magnificent dark, luscious, mysterious, and dangerous story that kept me enchanted by the story and it's various twists and turns. Her writing definitely played a role in it. I loved her diction and the way she told the story was unique and perfect for the book.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this book, it was incredible. A good 4/5 stars, because I wasn't blown away. (ive become a harsh rater)
There are a lot of potentially triggering subjects in House of Hollow and I STRESS that before you pick up the book, you take some time to check the triggers out. Thanks!
