House of Hollow is about three sisters who went missing when they were children, only to be returned with identical half-moon scars at their throats and charmed lives. Grey is an internationally renowned fashion designer. Vivi is a rock star. And Iris is a high school student, trying to navigate the weirdness that surrounds her. When Grey goes missing, it’s up to Iris and Vivi to find her, and find out what happened to them as children on the way.

The details in this book are written beautifully, and hauntingly. Several times while reading I just had to look up and catch my breath. I loved the girls, and the mystery surrounding Grey especially. There’s an earnestness and innocence about Iris that makes the final reveal even more jarring. And the final reveal, I mean. You don’t really get many hints except for an overwhelming “these girls ain’t right” throughout the whole book, so to find out what really happened is pretty wild.

This book is YA but I’d recommend it to anyone who likes spooky fairytale-ish scenarios. I really liked it, and it’s perfect for this time of year.
