As an anticipated release I am disappointed by it. Maybe it’s because I have read other books similar to this one that were, in my opinion, better and this one just lacked when it came to the setting and even the characters in a way. Anyways, let’s just dive in.

The book is told from one point-of-view. Jani wants what is best for her sister and will do anything to see this through. You could say that she has a one track mind because of it. I don’t think that there was much to her personality besides her sister and maybe a knack for getting into trouble. I can’t say that I have ever met another character that felt so foolish, haha. She definitely didn’t make the book boring in that aspect.

The other characters also felt a bit one tracked and because of that they were just a bit bland. They had mostly one job in the plot. I think this is why the romance lacked for me as well. There really wasn’t much that pulled them together besides the usual quick attraction. I just didn’t feel it.

I think what really bothered me was the lack of setting. I can look past the characters but when the title is about the setting I just had expected much more from it. Nothing was ever really described and didn’t get to see much of the magic that involved the hotel. We say people use magic on others for not so great things which was fine but I wanted more illusions like I have read in other books.

Overall, it was just okay. It didn’t really keep my attention past the 50% mark and I was kind of skimming at that point. I think that others will enjoy it so take what you will from this review.
