The prologue draws you in, like it did with the Night Circus, and like it usually does with this kind of enchanting, magical books.
I was a bit thrown by the first person narration from the first chapter (not a personal favorite) but the writing is compelling and made me forget this preference detail.
As a French, I’m wary of books set in a world inspired by France and that use French words and names (Serpent and Dove, as an example, was terrible at it). But Hotel Magnifique seems to do it well in the first chapters!
