I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I will admit I had not heard of the author but he wrote a compelling memoir about his life. I was intrigued to hear he was born in a cult but it was his day to day life, struggles, triumphs that had me hooked. This is the story of family, of healing, of finding yourself. It’s full of obstacles like addiction and trauma and mental health but it’s also full of love and hope and connection. Some parts were harder to read as Mikel paints his life and trauma so vividly I just wanted him to get to the happy ending. But happy is in the journey and Mikel has quite the journey to share. Mikel is a musician, an author, and artist and so brave as this is him being as vulnerable as one can be. I highly recommend this book!
