I loved the author's descriptions of everything. It gave a great view of the town, and the house. The aunt's refusal to even enter the house set the tone. I was prepared to be on edge. She hired people to maintain the house for her, but there was a thick coat of dust on everything. Shouldn't the workers have at least cleaned things? Why did they leave things dirty?

Then we discover the picture of Holly and the fun begins. A 40-year old disappearance that still fascinates the town. A house that has a history of violence and mystery. The Hobbie relatives that are returning to the house for a fresh start are definitely going to have a life very different from the one they lived in New York City.

This book is well-written, with interesting characters and a great premise. The fact that it's based on a childhood rhyme made it even more interesting to me.
