I was looking forward to reading the latest installment in this compelling series. Although I enjoyed all three timelines, I must admit that the least enjoyable was the "modern day" storyline. I found Reverend Clare's issues with motherhood and her demons to be rather on the depressing side, real as they may be in today's world. Additionally, the timeline didn't work. I found it distracting, and to be honest, annoying, that 1972 was "thirty two years ago", but I believe, based on technology is is supposed to be current, not 2004 era. Perhaps that's my own ability to suspend disbelief, but I spent a good portion of time figuring people's ages, and I found it frustrating that it didn't make sens.

I did enjoy the plot, and the twists and turns. It definitely kept me intrigued, and I was happy to read it. Thank you for the advance reading copy!
