When you read an author more than five times you begin to get a feel for their style and how they deal with their characters. It's been seven years since the last Millers Kill book. Reading a new book about Chief van Alstyne and Rev Clare is like putting on a old sweater.

The set up for the story is what looks like three identical style murders, one in 1952, one in 1972, and the third just happened. In all three, the bodies of young woman were found in the middle of a quiet country, wearing 'party' dresses. From what we read in the first ten pages, they had no stocking or shoes, no purse was found in the area.

So it would be amazing if all three were murdered over a period of seventy years, but if the first two had one murderer (twenty years apart), who committed an identical murder fifty years later and how did they find out about the first killers MO.

Can wait to find out. Zeb Kantrowitz
