Although, like the rest of the world, I have been impatiently waiting for the new Russ and Clare book, my focus has been more on the characters. Was the baby a boy or girl? What happened between Finn and Hadley? What immediately pulled me in as I read the excerpt was the mystery itself. I have read the blurbs, so I knew basically what it was about, but my interest wasn't peaked like it was about the character cliff hangers from Through the Evil Days. As I read, my first impression was how much was hidden in the story-line. The mystery itself - how can all three murders be tied together and how can they not? What are the connections with people in the past that are impacting the present? The cover itself gives the impression of things unknown - things still shadowed. I'm still beyond eager to have the answers to the things left unresolved in the lives of the characters I've come to love, but now I'm just as eager to know who is killing these women and why!
