First of all, there are many content warnings to list including Covid-19, death of loved ones, animal death, panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. That said, it might have been a bit too soon for a book based on the early days of the pandemic (which we are still in the midst of). There is something to be said about the relatability of the story because everyone in the world can relate to experiencing the pandemic that changed our world. We all understand what the characters in the story were experiencing as they faced all of the new, unexpected changes to their lives and were constantly trying to keep up with things that no one was able to predict. That uncertainty, fear, and grief has unfortunately become a universally shared experience in this pandemic. A and alongside all of this is, of course, mental health issues and wealth/privilege disparity. This story managed to touch upon all of these issues and more all wrapped up in a love story that unfortunate didn’t capture much of my attention. However, I couldn’t tell if I wasn’t into the love story because it wasn’t good or because I was emotionally drained from relating to the experience of the pandemic. For this reason, I would t recommend this book for those seeking a rom com.
