Two years ago this would have been in the Dystopia genre, current-day it's just normal life. How time has changed!

This book captures the start of the pandemic and how most of us tried to balance our now "normal" life with the threat of Covid. There were so many little things where my first thought was 'Okay that's a little dramatic' but then realized people really felt and acted in that way and some still do with this new strand of the virus.

I felt like this book captured what life is like so well during this pandemic. This is a book you could look back on, if this pandemic ever ends, and laugh at the things that happen during the pandemic, like the threat of running out of toilet paper and switching your diet to canned and dried foods. This book could very well possibly be a book people read in the future to know what life was like during the pandemic.

I also like that this book touches on the idea that the pandemic didn't stop all the other things people are going through, and possibly could have even made it worse, like not having enough money to provide for your family. All the major trials that people went through during Covid like, the loss of a loved one, financial problems, work instability, the change in school, fear for immune-compromised family, and so much more were all incorporated into the lives of the characters.

So I love the realistic lives the characters lived. This unique set of circumstances lent well to a unique love story. I think the romantic relationship grew naturally. The beginning was forced with Jonah going after Max the moment he sees her, but from then on the story and their relationship grows slowly and you can see Max slowly let him in.

I love the personality of Max. She is not some guy-seeking teenager who falls head over heels in an instant. She is strong and has a good head on her soldiers. I love that she was given such a strong and powerful personality.

This book will be loved by people who love contemporary romances. This isn't my favorite genre of books because they all seem so much the same, but I did really enjoy reading this one.
