I really enjoyed this story! Much more than I thought it would. Honestly it was so weird reading about a major world wide pandemic that's only a year old. The beginning of the story really took me back to the beginning of the pandemic and the shutdown. It reminded me of the fear and unknowns that were rampant - how long would it last?; when can we buy toilet paper?; how will school or jobs work?; when will it be done?; This story really just encapsulated all of those feelings in such a realistic way. I liked reading about Max and Jonah and their different struggles throughout the pandemic. Though they were different they were no less important. Max struggled with things dealing in her economic status and working as an essential worker. Jonah dealt with anxiety and , depression made worse by a lockdown and fearing for his immuno-compromised sister. Now while some of this felt heavy, there were a few funny parts that I really enjoyed between Max and Johah's banter. I also liked the visibility of an anxiety disorder in the height of the pandemic and how it took a toll on a person's health. My only critique is that Max and Jonah's relationship felt a little fast too me. I wish we had gotten more relationship building and interactions before the boyfriend/girlfriend question. Other than that I will for sure be holding onto this book to share with my family and friends and to remember what the world was like in the height of a world wide pandemic.
