This was my first historical romance and I have to say, I was really pleased. I think it's also because it is a murder mystery which is one of my fave genres. Loved Chase and Minerva! Their back and forth bickering, the respect they have for one another and they're both intelligent, was fun and refreshing.

While a bit of a slow burn in the romance department, it was still pretty steamy and I was intrigued about the investigation into the Duke's death, the background of Minerva's marriage to her abusive late husband and his suspicious death, and Chase's investigation into Minerva and the other two mystery women named in the Duke's will.

I can't tell whether the ending is meant to be a cliffhanger; I am a little confused on what it means and makes me feel a bit uuugh as for one, I hate cliffhangers, and two, if there is going to be more, then I am missing something I need to know now. So I guess this means I may need to wait for the next book to find out. 4 stars.
