I liked the way this book started out (I had a sample of 44 pages to review). The emphasis was not on romance but rather on the mystery of what the book is going to be about with just a tinge of romance. We quickly get to know the main characters of Minerva and Chase. Minerva in particular appeals to me for being a strong, independent woman, which was unusual in the time period this book is set in. Did she play a part in the death of the duke responsible for her unexpected windfall? Chase is wondering that...as am I. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this book to find out the answers to this question and many more. Ms Hunter has shown herself to be a very capable, engaging author.
