An unwavering and deep look into Zimbabwe, it's culture, penal system and the damage done to its people by drugs, corruption and an avoidance of making decision. I find it interesting that this book written by a black Zimbabwean man has chosen a white man and a mixed face female as its main characters. These characters allow the author to speak truth while keeping some distance as the characters speak that truth. It is interesting to learn of the culture, beliefs and politics from a Zimbabwe native. In some ways it reminds me of my first read of The Kite runner.
