This is not the genre I like to read, and I didn't find much to enjoy in the excerpt. The characters are sort of ambiguously presented, so you're not sure if they're guilty of the crime they are accused of or not. It's all rather subdued, with none of the characters showing much emotion or standing out from one another. As I couldn't care about any of them, I wasn't particularly drawn into the storyline.
The cover is nice, though. well, I like the one in the excerpt. The one shown in the cover image is not as appealing to me. I'm not a fan of huge amounts of yellow in a cover.
