In her book Hanger Management, author Susan Albers takes the time to establish with readers a framework around what "hanger" is, where it comes from, why it affects us each so deeply (and differently), and how we can learn to conquer and avoid it. The book is a mix of scientific data and anecdotal evidence, which I found helpful as a reader--it is one thing to hear the biological reasoning for how you feel, and another thing entirely to hear a story about a stranger that resonates deeply with your own experience.

As a reader I particularly appreciated Albers' work on examining how hanger can be managed (so that it doesn't manage you). Her research on how we eat, what we eat, when we eat, and how all of these things affect blood sugar and mood helped me understand my own rhythm of life and eating in new ways. I am better able to manage my own well-being thanks to her input!
