I actually really enjoyed this book. When I read the first look, it was good but it didn’t give me that “Omg I have to read this” vibe. I was pleasantly surprised to have had the opportunity to read it but it wasn’t one I rushed to read.
I wish I had though. This book is about a street in NY and covers a historical time period (well periods). Bank Street bought a “Rent” the musical vibe to it, especially as it addressed the AIDS epidemic that really left a huge mark on NY. The story, although it is the authors story is also Bank Streets story and it’s the story of all who lived on this street. It made me sad in a way to see how far away we’ve come from the way things were. Neighbors cared about each other, looked out for each other. There are some wonderful memories in this book. I really would like to express my gratitude to the author for sharing these experiences with me as a reader!
