While I generally don't enjoy memoirs, Growing Up Bank Street was more enjoyable than other memoirs I've read. Donna Florio recounts her endless memories of New York as a child and as she ages. The romanticized, lovely view of New York was one I enjoyed reading. It made me want to travel to New York in hope of having a similar experience. Her ability to recall memories and people was also unbelievable. Even as a much older woman, she can remember everyone she knew and the many details of their lives. It made for an interesting read. Bank Street must have been an incredible place to grow up to have so many memoires and to have known so many unbelievable people. I wouldn't call the book prefect. I struggled to enjoy the hopping around of timelines instead of time lines being chronological It also dragged a bit, something that is common is memoirs.
