Growing Up Bank Street has so many true character stories! I truly enjoyed all of the different people - from celebrities to street people to regular families. The timeline was so intense - from day to day to the AIDS epidemic to 9/11 and how it affected not just one person, but every single person. Donna obviously took very detailed notes and knows how to write a memoir well.
I don't live in that area of the US, but I am interested in the history there, so I have read tons about it online. That being said, I am familiar with Greenwich Village, the city, etc. so it was easy to me to imagine some of the settings. If someone is not familiar with it, I think it would help if photos and maps, etc. were included in this book.
All in all, a very touching book of stories. Thank you for the opportunity to read Growing UP Bank Street. I also found the book easy to follow and thought the cover was very appropriate. I think young and older readers would enjoy her book and the historic information it does have.
