It's been awhile since I read a novel in one sitting. I couldn't put this one down. In "Great and Precious Things" Rebecca Yarros crafts a beautiful, complex narrative that tells the story of a couple and of a family. There's rich allusions to Steinbeck's "East of Eden" from which Yarros pulls her title and therefore, though not direct, biblical allusions as well.
This novel is easy to get lost in. The narrator switches between Cam and Willow but does so effortlessly and without struggle.
The descriptions are rich as are the character development.
I cannot recommend this book enough. Though it's a romance and has all the hallmarks of the genre it's subtle until it's not. But even then the story is complex and intriguing. You won't be disappointed.
