I loved this story by Rebecca Yarros. She did such an incredible job of creating a book that has so many complex elements to it! It was interesting from page one and kept going all the way through the end of the book. I’m definitely thrilled I was able to get a copy of this book!

The Story: The story itself was great and contained so many different pieces that you couldn’t possibly get bored. There was the love element, the family element, the redemption element, and the danger element, all expertly weaved throughout the novel. I particularly enjoyed the military theme that played throughout the novel! I thought it added a little something that was unique to this type of story that could have been totally played out otherwise.

The Flow: This book was fairly easy to read, although for some reason I did take a little more time to finish it than I normally would. The story itself had seamless transitions from one scene or event to the next and there were never any confusing breaks or large jumps in the story that didn’t make sense.

The Characters: If you’re looking for a story with complex characters and relationships, this is definitely it. I enjoyed seeing each of the characters develop throughout the story, especially Camden, as he had the most issues to begin with. It was also intriguing to watch the relationships start out so tense and build into something beautiful.

The Writing: Rebecca Yarros did an amazing job with her writing in this one. The words were captivating and the story was masterfully written with incredible prose. I was definitely able to picture this story taking place like a movie in my head.

I’m so greatful I was able to read this book. It’s not one I would normally pick up on my own, so I’m sure happy it was gifted to me otherwise I would have totally missed out!
