This is not a typical book I would pick up and read. Even though I do enjoy memoirs, I probably still would not have picked this up, until now. After reading the synopsis, it really made me think. It made me think about the effect and impact animals have made in my life. As an adult, I’m not much of an animal person and I never thought about why until now. It is because of the dogs I had when I was little that I loved so very much. They were some of the happiest days of my life. They protected me, played with me, gave me hours of joy, and when the first one died and the second was stolen, my heart was broken forever. I love how the author talks about the dogs that got her through the stages of her life. This sounds like a heartfelt memoir which probably dives deep into feelings rather than skim the surface. That makes it very relatable to everyone because even if you don’t have an animal you love, we all have feelings.
