Not enough dog.

This marks the fourth memoir from this author, if I read the last chapter of the book correctly. It is supposed to be about the dogs he grew up with and the dogs that surrounded her transition. Personally, I thought it was more memoir and less dogs that I would have liked.
I can list the dogs. Each chapter is about one particular dog, and so the chapters are titled with their names. The dogs are described clearly, but I knew more about the dogs in Marley and Me or Rescuing Penny Jane, also books about people and their relationship with the dog in the title.
As a cis woman, I can only believe what trans women tell me about that experience. I felt that there was both too much and not enough information about his.her emotions. The book was supposed, from the fly leaf, to examine that emotion and the way the dogs acted and reacted to her. Apparently, the dogs from before his transition reacted negatively to him and the ones afterward accepted her as presented.
I still say, not enough dogs in this book. You may feel differently when you read it. Do read it.
