I really can relate to this author's love of dogs and how they punctuate different season of our lives. Or maybe just endure those seasons with us. It is told in first person, rather a memoir of sorts. The author is transgender and has some interesting insights into human relationships and how we relate to dogs in a more pure emotional way. She discusses the the vulnerability and honesty that we share with our dogs that we can't/won't share with our own families. I enjoy the pictures included of the dogs she is remembering, who can resist doggy pictures! I like the idea of looking back at one's life through the lens of each dog. And sadly, just as in our own lives, these dogs have passed on but we still have these wonderful memories and stories. I look forward to reading this book.
