First off - I love this cover. A Labrador makes me feel warm and cozy (since they love to snuggle) - so well done on the dog choice.
I also love that this book appears to be about a transgender person. As a group, transgender people aren't represented well in literature. And, can you beat a loving relationship with a dog?! Nope.
