After reading the first look, I was incredibly excited about this book. The story was very gripping, the cover is stunning, and it left the story open to be continued at an extremely suspenseful point.
So when I finally got my hands on a copy of this, I was surprised to find myself struggling to finish the book. At first I thought I was trouble getting back into the book, as I'd read the first few chapters already, but it's probably got more to do with the language. As a non-native speaker myself, I struggled to understand the "evolved English" words in the book. Most of them were not that hard to decipher, but I hung on some others a lot longer than necessary and it took away from the pace.
The ending of the book makes it sound like there will be a sequel, which I would definitely read. There wasn't any indication this would be a sequel, though, so personally I'd have preferred a less open ending.
All in all, this isn't my favourite book, but it has kept me entertained well enough.
