I really enjoyed this one, and I've already pre-order it from my local indie, but it definitely takes a few chapters to get used to the language. All of the characters, aside from Andra, speak in a version of English that is somehow both archaic and futuristic. On this planet, technology has regressed, so everything that is technology is referred to as magic, and the people who use it are wizards. Middle Ages thinking, year 3000 technology.

Andra isn't quite sure where she is at first. She was supposed to be transported from Earth to a colony on another planet, but she wakes up 1000 years later and it is certainly a strange world. Everyone keeps referring to her as a goddess and everyone from her past life is dead.

The beginning plot is pretty similar to Aurora Rising- girl meant to travel to new planet, wakes up years later when everyone she knows is dead. But Andra must learn how to survive in this world that is so far from her own. That includes determining which allies are trustworthy.

Twist ending, somewhat focused on a love story, not really magic but sci-fi
