Overall, I thought the book was okay. Some parts were predictable, but the book did have some twists I liked. The most enjoyable part of the book for me was the technology and its functions. It’s been a long time since I’ve read Sci-Fi and was a little worried I’d be lost, but I thought the author’s world building was very successfully and really creative. Character wise, I struggled with Andra and Zhade’s relationship. I know this is a YA novel, and both main characters are older teenagers, but I found so much of their conflict frustrating. I even thought about marking the book DNF because of their relationship, but ended up sticking with it because I hate not finishing a book. Another thing I struggled with was the High Goddess language, which I found distracting. I either skipped text or made up my own dialogue. Even with the issues I had, I am glad I finished the book because I really liked the ending. I don’t think I’ll read the remaining books in the series, but I hope other readers who pick up the book will enjoy it.
