I did love the small part of the book that I was able to read when the book was first announced, and the onset of the pandemic put a damper on my reading plans and forced me into constantly working and not finding anymore time to read. For the moment, Goddess in the Machine is a DNF - however, I do plan on finishing the novel when it is safe for me to do so - by safe I mean getting out of my reading slump! - and will be able to modify my review then. My previous thoughts about the novel still stand - the use of a custom language for the characters, showing a true evolution of life on this elusive space planet, is extremely creative and unlike anything that I have seen in a novel before. As far as I have read, the characters are likeable and have not given me any reason to *not* root for them - though this can change in an instant! And the writing is still variably unique and enjoyable to read and digest.
