I’m a huge fan of this author’s other works already, so it was no surprise to me that I loved this book just as much as I did. The writing style is such that you can see all of the events unfolding in your mind so clearly, it’s as though you are there experiencing it all yourself! So powerful and immersive! Exactly what I love- it transports you directly into the story!
This is a Rumplestiltskin retelling so the story is somewhat familiar, while also being entirely unique in so many ways, and it includes many well-crafted characters within a well-built world. I had enjoyed the first look and had desperately wanted to read more, so I was thrilled to win a copy of this and devoured the rest of the story. Retellings often have the potential to be rather disappointing and not live up to the originals, but for me this was not the case for Gilded.The author writes a darker tale, while also incorporating more romance to lighten things, I think. It’s everything I love in a book and as a result I wasn’t put off by the length of the novel! I’m very much looking forward to the sequel.
