As always, Marissa Meyer knocked this retelling out of the park! I never imagined a Rumplestiltskin retelling, but the story was told beautifully!
I loved the main character, Serilda, and the ghost, Gild, that we meet in the palace. Speaking of the palace, the ambiance of the story was amazing! Meyer's prose truly made me feel transported into their world.
This book was a lot darker than anything I've read from Meyer, both in actual plot and in ambiance. The ending was especially dark, so I would suggest checking trigger warnings before picking up this book.
The only reason I didn't give this book the full five stars, was because at times the plot was repetitive, and the writing could be quite wordy. However, the moments where we staryed from the cycle of the plot, were so enthralling, that I think I finished the book in two days! I really recommend this to all fans of Marissa Meyer!
